We congratulate Dr. Esther Kanduma for developing a policy brief titled “IMPROVING TICK-BONE DISEASES CONTROL IN KENYA: A STRATEGY TO INCORPORATE MULTIPLE APPROACHES”.  Briefly, this  document describes various integrated control approaches for eradication of ticks and tick-borne diseases (TBDs) in livestock. This will improve animal health and productivity and ultimately increased incomes for the farmers.

Dr. Kanduma holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi and is a lecturer in the department of Biochemistry, College of Health Sciences. Her Research interests include: Genetic diversity of tick species, molecular diagnostics, development of anti-tick vaccines and rapid diagnostic kits of TBDs. When not in the laboratory doing research or delivering a lecture, Esther has a special interest in leadership and management, community development and gender and diversity.
